But G-P's success posed its own challenges. “We have over 100 wholly owned foreign entities that are fully consolidated. We operate in different currencies around the world, so our funding is very complex,” says John Mazzone, vice president of finance at G-P.

Deploying Financial Management, HCM, and Prism Analytics in just six months, G-P had high expectations for Workday. “We grew so quickly, we went live with full sets of operations, expenses, revenues, collections, and employees,” explains Mazzone.
The complex nature of G-P’s business makes it essential for Finance, HR, and IT to collaborate. “Workday is a meeting place for our three teams. It takes all of them working together to use Workday to the fullest.”
Do it with data.
G-P opted not to import historical data into Workday. Instead, they use Prism Analytics as a data warehouse to analyze trends for better decisions, without having to convert data to Workday. This saved massive amounts of time during deployment.
Additionally, G-P uses Prism to analyze revenue from different customer segments, calculate price elasticity of demand, and fine-tune their marketing spend. This wouldn't have been possible without Prism's ability to integrate data from multiple sources and provide real-time analytics.
“It’s not all finance led,” says Mazzone. “We're also using it to pull reports on employment attributes and make other HR decisions. We're using Prism in many different ways.”
Doubling up on efficiency and compliance.
G-P has more than doubled in size since it started using Workday, and its productivity has scaled accordingly. “Each individual produces far more than two years ago. And that is because of Workday,” Mazzone says.
Three years ago, G-P used to close books in about 25 days. Now? They close revenue on day one. “Our executive team can immediately see the last 30 days of revenue performance, how it translates to our bottom line,” Mazzone adds.
