Gabe Monroy
Chief Technology Officer
About
Gabe Monroy is Chief Technology Officer at Workday, responsible for the strategy and execution of the company’s global platform organization, spanning data, developer, and AI platforms, product engineering, core systems, and infrastructure. He leads Workday’s transition to an AI-native foundation, building the enterprise rails for agentic AI—the APIs, data foundation, and trust layer required to run autonomous agents safely and at scale across the HR and Finance suite.
A 25-year veteran of platform infrastructure, Gabe has spent his career at the intersection of cloud, developers, and high-performance systems. Prior to joining Workday, he served as Vice President and General Manager for Cloud Runtimes at Google, where he led Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) and held revenue accountability for a multibillion-dollar AI infrastructure business. His previous experience includes serving as Chief Product Officer at DigitalOcean and leading Azure’s developer products in Microsoft’s Developer Division.
Earlier in his career, Gabe co-founded Deis, an early Kubernetes startup acquired by Microsoft in 2017. This acquisition led to him co-launching Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), which became the fastest-growing compute service in Microsoft’s history.
Gabe studied Computer Engineering at Tufts University.
