Celltrion already leads the world in developing “biosimilar” drugs—near-identical versions of already approved drugs for cancer and autoimmune conditions. Part of Celltrion’s growth strategy was to unify HR systems and processes being managed independently by each overseas entity. “To ensure consistent operations across all global offices, a centralized HR system was essential—one that enabled integrated data management at HQ while allowing independent operations at local branches,” says ChangWan Park, head of Global HR.

Park says Workday outperformed competitors in maintenance stability, continuity of domestic services, manager usability, and flexibility in adapting to business changes. “Its built-in AI functions also made it a strategic choice for future HR automation and advancement,” Park  adds.

“We’ve seen significant improvements in personal data security and a reduced risk of human error,” notes Park, adding that with key processes and knowledge captured in the platform, critical information no longer walks out the door when employees leave.

Celltrion has introduced a global library to support data-based internal talent management, personalized career development, and structured learning systems. “We now have a central jobs and performance database, unified global recruitment branding, and a global hiring portal,” says Park. 

Features such as performance evaluation and performance-based career placement are helping HR to strategically manage top talent worldwide. Celltrion is also using an organizational culture diagnostic tool to identify areas for improvement and create action plans. 

“Workday will support the next phase of HR advancement,” says Park, including implementing KPI-based executive dashboards to enhance strategic analysis and standardize decision-making, and feeding real-time HR data into workforce strategy action plans.
