Developer Agent is Workday's agentic-first development companion—accessible from any agentic tool of choice, including Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, and more. Using plain language, developers can build custom agents, apps, and orchestrations while Developer Agent surfaces the right Workday tools, APIs, docs, tutorials, and patterns in the flow of work.

Developer Agent is accessible three ways: via the Workday Developer Site, via a VS Code-compatible IDE plug-in, or through any MCP-compatible agentic tool—including Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, Google Antigravity, and Cline.

General tools like Cursor or Claude Code are platform-agnostic—they have no knowledge of Workday's data model, business processes, or logic. Developer Agent has native awareness of all Workday tools and actions across 50+ skills, and plugs directly into those tools via MCP—so developers build Workday Extend objects that power React apps, serverless functions, and cross-system orchestrations with Workday-specific precision built in.

Every agent built with Developer Agent is automatically registered in Agent System of Record—providing the rails that ensure lawful interactions and trusted governance. Developer Agent keeps developer data out of LLM training and runs all inference within your Extend region to satisfy data residency and compliance needs. Every agent acts within defined boundaries, with full auditability from day one.
