About Formula 1

A brief history of Formula 1

The origins of Formula One (F1) racing can be traced back to the European Grand Prix championships of the 1920s and 1930s. However, the modern Formula One as we know it began taking shape in 1946, with the standardization of rules by the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA), followed by the inception of the first World Championship of Drivers in 1950.

Today, F1 continues to attract a massive global following, with millions of fans tuning in to watch the races live via broadcast or in person. In addition to a rapidly growing fan base, the sport is also a major platform for automotive technology and innovation, with manufacturers using F1 as a testing ground for new technologies and materials.

The British Grand Prix holds the title of being the oldest race on the Formula One (F1) World Championship calendar. It earned this status by hosting the first round of the inaugural championship season in 1950 at Silverstone Circuit. Along with the Italian Grand Prix, the British Grand Prix is the only race that has been a part of every Formula One World Championship season since its inception.

The British Grand Prix takes place at the Silverstone Circuit.
