Your Company—In All Its Various Dimensions

Getting a corporate headcount should not be one of the most difficult questions to answer about your business, nor should detailing costs or spend by a department, region, or group. Workday Organizations enables companies to accurately model their company structures as well as provide analytics based on any organizational dimension.

Most traditional ERP systems allow for one—or at most two—corporate organizational structures that are difficult to change during the normal course of business. IT teams struggle to handle the amount of change that occurs, so many reorganizations do not get recorded in a timely fashion. Delayed recording of reorganizations lead to inaccurate information, open the doors to data errors when later transactions must be backdated, and ultimately result in a lack of confidence in the system.

Workday has resolved these issues by giving companies the ability to accurately represent their organizations and act on the issues in a timely manner.

  • Multiple organization types. Workday supports several organization types, which can all exist simultaneously and be updated independently from each other. Types include: company, department, region, supervisory, cost center, business site, matrix, and more.
  • Easy reorganizations. Because organization types are independent, one organization type can be re-categorized without affecting other organization types. For instance, a supervisory reporting structure can be changed without affecting your cost centers, or a new business site can be created without modifying the existing regions.
  • Flexible reporting dimensions. Each organizational type can be used to segment data about the company. For instance, users can analyze spending patterns by business site, supervisory teams, cost center, or region. Instantly.
  • Segmented security access. Organizations allow much more flexible distribution of responsibilities, allowing different individuals to have rights only to specifically assigned organizations. Administrators can be granted access by individual department, region, business site, or any other organizational dimension.
  • Record changes when they happen. Workday empowers HR departments to manage organizational structures without relying on IT, enabling changes to be recorded when they actually happen and reducing the need for back-dated transactions to correct for delays in recording the reorganization.

Workday enables companies to capture, track, and report on the current state of their business with confidence in the accuracy and relevance of their data.
