Developer Network
The Workday Developer Network (WDN) is an online community for developers to collaborate around our Workday applications and integrations. This developer network provides a variety of resources and training material on Workday Web Services (WWS) and the Workday Integration Tools.
WDN is the primary source of information for developers tasked with integrating Workday with other systems. Get all the latest news relating to Workday's integration offerings and view the latest Workday Web Service API documentation. The Workday Developer Network also provides you the opportunity to interact with the Workday Integration Team and with other Workday customers. Take part in discussions on the forums, contribute an article, or share some useful code you've written.
Workday Web Services (WWS)
Workday Web Services (WWS) is the term used to represent Workday's Public API. WWS provide programmatic access to our Workday Business Management Services with a set of web services that are simple-to-use, secure, interoperable, standards-based, and loosely-coupled.
Web services are one of the central components of the Workday architecture and are the core enablement tool to integration with Workday. WWS are implemented using industry standard web services technology which encompass WSDL, SOAP, and the WS-* standards as well as resource-oriented REST standards. Delivering Workday Web Services on open standards means avoiding the traditional pitfalls of building tightly coupled and proprietary integrations that are brittle and hard to change. Leveraging web services also enables the removal of traditional technology barriers and proprietary communications constructs which allow for more rapid and error-free integration with Workday.
To help you integrate your existing systems with Workday, we offer:
- A library of delivered SOAP and REST based web services.
- The ability to export any report in Workday (delivered or user-created) as a SOAP or REST based web service.
- The ability to read any report in Workday (delivered or user-created) as an RSS feed.
Integration Tools
Workday Integration Tools are made up of a combination of On-Demand and Eclipse-based tools. The On-Demand tools are designed to make integration with Workday as simple as possible where as the Eclipse-based toolset provides an industry-leading, full-featured set integration development components capable of handling the most complex of business process orchestration scenarios.
Our Integration Tools consist of:
- Enterprise Interface Builder. This point-and-click On-Demand tool allowing the definition of end-to-end integrations (e.g. transform a Workday report into a CSV file and send it via FTP to a designated server) and execution of these integrations using Workday's hosted ESB technology.
- Implementation Toolkit. This point-and-click On-Demand tool is used to map and import & export bulk data from either Excel spreadsheets, CSV files or Enterprise-scale ETL tools.
- Integration Studio. This Eclipse-based tool provides best-of-breed integration capabilities including a BPEL 2.0 designer as well as a stateless integration builder, the Assembly Editor.
