Through the Workday Giving Program, Workday and our employees take pride in giving back to our communities in a variety of ways, both locally and around the globe. The overriding goal of the Workday Giving Program is to support humanitarian ("humanitarian" at Workday includes animals) and environmental causes that have special meaning for our company, employees, and customers.

Workday Giving Program: Workday In Action

Workday supports a number of local and national organizations that have a wide reach as well as a connection back to Workday. In 2010, we were delighted to support the following causes:

  • Workday Devil Mountain Run, a benefit for Children’s Hospital Oakland
  • Haitian relief efforts
  • Life Time Fitness Triathlon Corporate Charity Challenge
  • Go Red for Women
  • Teach for America
  • Salesforce.com Foundation concert benefit for UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital

Our offices have also collected shoes, coats, food, and toys for various drives and programs.

Maddie’s Fund

Maddie's Fund® is a family foundation funded by Workday Co-Founder Dave Duffield and his wife, Cheryl. The goal of Maddie's Fund is to provide a loving home for all healthy or treatable animal shelter dogs and cats. Maddie's Fund is named after the family's beloved miniature schnauzer, who passed away in 1997.

Maddie's Fund directs its resources towards creating successful models of animal lifesaving; pioneering shelter medicine programs in veterinary schools; enlisting private practice veterinarians in the animal welfare cause; and implementing a national strategy to collect and report shelter statistics.

Under a Maddie’s Fund Special Workday Giving Program, Workday employees are invited to nominate non-profit animal charities for a one-time grant to support general operations on behalf of homeless dogs and cats. Over the years, Maddie's Fund has offered grants to 19 animal welfare organizations nominated by Workday employees.

Workday employees also volunteer to help Maddie's Fund's spread the word about the annual Maddie's Matchmaker Adoptathon, where Bay Area shelters offered free adoptions that Maddie's Fund underwrites.
